When I first saw this purse, I was enthralled! It was not like most bags I see or that I sew. I had not made a rag quilt in a few years, and immediately knew what fabrics I would chose, regardless of what my twelve yr old said!

I love how big this bag is! I can easily carry my usual items- my wallet, phone, keys, and tissues- along with a carry case of baby wipes and a spare set of clothes for my 2 yr old! At 15″ wide at the base, 11″ tall, and 4 1/2″ deep, this bag is perfect for everyday activities! It would be perfect done in pastels for a dance bag or in a fun print to tote toys or activities to and from the car when traveling!

The pattern is easy to follow, with only 1 pattern piece and then measurements for cutting everything else out, it makes my printer happy!

The options for this bag are pretty great too! It includes two outside ‘quilt as you go’ pockets, a large inside pocket (or divider) and a smaller inside pocket. You can leave off or add more pockets if you wish. The pattern calls for stiff interfacing (if desired) to give the bag body. I opted to leave it out, as I made mine out of flannel and wanted the soft floppy hobo bag feel/look to mine. The top of the bag closes with a zipper, and the pattern includes directions for a regular zipper along with an exposed zipper!

I have already had my daughter ask for a bag of her own, and I imagine I will get a few more requests as I am out and about with my new bag!

I own a few of her patterns now, and sewed up a striped rag quilt for a baby gift I am working on. I love the simplicity of this one!

What fabrics would you pick for a bag? or go check out A Vision to Remember and tell me what pattern you would make!

Happy Sewing!
